Building a resilient home connection
Failover, battery backup and sensible redundancy for people who work from home — without building a data centre in a cupboard.

Resilience is mostly about removing single points of failure that are cheap to remove, and accepting the ones that are not.
The first is power. A small UPS keeps a router and ONT running for several hours and covers the majority of short outages.
The second is the line itself. A router with automatic failover to a mobile SIM will take over within seconds, which is enough to keep a call alive.
The third is DNS and device configuration, which is where most home networks quietly break during an incident. Keep a second resolver configured.
You do not need enterprise hardware. In our testing, a mid-range router with failover, a modest UPS and a cheap standby SIM covered every fault we simulated apart from a full local network outage.
